Short answer
An invoice shows your business details and VAT number, your customer’s details, a unique invoice number, the invoice date, a description of the work and the amounts with VAT. This generator lets you enter all of that on one screen, calculates VAT and totals, and gives you a PDF to download straight away.
What should your invoice include?
In the Netherlands and Belgium, a business invoice has to include specific details for VAT purposes. The generator has fields for the main ones. Check in particular that your invoice number is unique and follows on from your previous invoice.
- Your business name, address, VAT number and company number.
- Your customer’s name and address, and their VAT number for business customers.
- A unique, sequential invoice number and the invoice date.
- A description of what you supplied, with quantity and price.
- Per VAT rate: the amount excluding VAT, the rate and the VAT amount, plus the total.
How to create an invoice with the generator

PDF invoices and e-invoicing
A PDF is fine for many invoices in the Netherlands. In Belgium, invoices between VAT-registered businesses have to be structured e-invoices, usually sent over Peppol, since 1 January 2026. For those you need invoicing software with Peppol, such as Factuur Simpel Complete.
